    How it works

    1. 01

      Tick it once

Each different plant counts once per week, however often you eat it.

    2. 02

      Everything plant counts

Vegetables, fruit, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices.

    3. 03

      Refined does not

White flour, juice, fries and other heavily processed foods do not count.

    Questions

What counts as one of the 30 plants?

Any different vegetable, fruit, legume, whole grain, nut, seed, herb or spice. Each plant counts once per week. Refined grains, fruit juice and fried or ultra-processed foods do not count.

    Where is my list saved?

Only in this browser, using local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and the list resets automatically at the start of each week (Monday).

    Why 30?

In the American Gut Project, people who ate more than 30 different plant types a week had more diverse gut microbiomes than people who ate 10 or fewer. Thirty is a practical target rather than a proven threshold.

    Can this count automatically?

Yes, in the Feed Your Gut app. Snap a photo of a meal and every plant in it is recognized and added to your weekly count.
